On October 11-12, 2018 Tiraspol will host VI Pridnestrovian International Investment Economic Forum. The main venue will be the Republic Palace.

VI Pridnestrovian International Investment Economic Forum is a unique event for the business community of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

Forum is aimed at intensifying investment activities, attracting foreign investors to the national economy, demonstrating the investment advantages of Pridnestrovie, expanding business activity, enhancing interaction between government, society and business.

Forum welcomes international organizations, foreign investment companies, bank institutions, representatives of foreign authorities and diplomatic missions, foreign and Pridnestrovian economic agents, entrepreneurs, chambers of commerce and industry, international experts and thought leaders.

Forum History

Pridnestrovie hosts investment forums since 2009. Since 2016 forums are held annually under the patronage of the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.

Over the past years, forums took a leading place as a platform for communications between business community, public sector, foreign partners, and government of Pridnestrovie.

Forums are mainly aimed at presenting the economic and the investment potential of Pridnestrovie, demonstrating promising opportunities for investing in the development of the Pridnestrovian economy, a wide dialogue between business and government representatives on the prospects for development, as well as at shaping an attractive investment image of Pridnestrovie.

I Pridnestrovian Investment Forum was held in Tiraspol on June 4-5, 2009. The agenda included exhibition of investment projects to participants, plenary sessions and visits to successfully developing enterprises of Pridnestrovie. The Forum was attended by 328 official participants; more than 100 people participated in the Forum as free visitors. Totally, about 450 visitors.

Foreign participants represented more than 50 foreign companies, institutions and organizations from 13 countries (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, USA, Germany, Poland, France, Spain, Bulgaria, Romania, Nagorny Karabakh, Israel).

The Forum presented 92 investment projects in agriculture and processing industry (24), industry (21), construction (13), public education (3), housing and consumer services (13), recreation and tourism (10), innovations (4), health and social security (4).

Investors were highly interested in the industrial, agricultural, and tourism development projects, as well as grant projects in health and education.

More than 20 Pridnestrovian companies have established contacts with investors within 33 projects for the amount of USD 242 million.

The Forum confirmed that the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic is willing:

  • to work with foreign investors: the republic is open to all who come with serious and good intentions, and is ready for various mutually beneficial forms of cooperation in all economic sectors;
  • to provide reliable legal guarantees to foreign investors while protecting their property and providing guarantees for their invested capital;
  • to keep and improve a favourable tax regime.

II Pridnestrovian Investment Forum took place on September 16-17, 2010 in Tiraspol. It was attended by 443 official participants, totally more than 600 people.

Foreign participants represented more than 70 foreign companies, institutions and organizations from 18 countries (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Abkhazia, USA, Germany, France, Italy, Bulgaria, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Poland, Denmark).

The Forum presented 96 investment projects in industry and power supply (12), construction (6),housing and consumer services (12),agriculture (10), food industry (7), innovations (11), small business support infrastructure (3), education (9), culture (3), health and social security (8), sports and tourism (15).

Investors were highly interested in the industrial, agricultural, recreation and tourism development projects, as well as grant projects in education, health and social security.

Project developers have established contacts with investors within 44 projects for the amount of USD 179 million.

The Forum resulted in:

  • increasing interest of foreign investors to Pridnestrovie, which is evidenced by the geographic and number growth of the guests;
  • refinement of intentions expressed by potential investors at the Forum, in interviews, conversations with projects’ authors;
  • the need of joint efforts of ministries, state administrations and project authors during a permanent, systematic work on interaction with potential investors participating in the Forum or in promoting projects otherwise;
  • the need to launch the Pridnestrovian Investment Agency;
  • the fact that the overwhelming majority of Forum participants who submitted their projects, as well as Forum guests underlined the lack of alternative to the Forum as an important event that emerges strategic prospects for the development of the Pridnestrovian economy.

III Pridnestrovian Investment Forum was held in Tiraspol on June 6-7, 2013. It was attended by 360 official participants and more than 120 visitors, totally about 500 people.

Foreign participants represented 29 countries: Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Gagauzia, Kazakhstan Italy, France, Great Britain, Greece, Cyprus, Scotland, USA, Czech Republic, the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, Romania, Turkey, Sweden, Austria, Germany, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Holland, Spain, Israel.

The Forum presented 105 investment projects in industry and power supply (9), construction (3), food industry (7), agriculture (6),innovations (6),housing and consumer services (5),business support infrastructure (3), trade (4), education (6), culture and arts (7),health and social security (4), sports and tourism (14), ecology (3), industrial sites (20), land lots (8).

The Forum hosted meetings of foreign participants with the republic political leaders, the exchange of business contacts between Pridnestrovian and foreign companies from the Czech Republic, Germany, Ukraine. Also, foreign participants visited Rustas, an agricultural producer which began to expand export of products.

The programme included, also, a demonstration of the light industry products and a consumers’ choice competition of the Pridnestrovian home-made wines, a charity sale of crafts by foster children and a charity auction of paintings by Pridnestrovian artists.

23 agreements signed at the Forum included 3 cooperation agreements between the Association of European Business and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Pridnestrovie, between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry France Moldova and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Pridnestrovie, between the public administration of Tiraspol and Dnestrovsk and the municipality of Beltsy, 18 commercial agreements on foreign and local investments for a total amount of more than USD 42 million.

The Forum included presentation of many investment projects, demonstration of the investment potential, a dialogue of investors with the projects’ developers and authorities. The forum demonstrated that the investment processes in the republic are active and they have the potential for further development.

IV Pridnestrovian Investment Economic Forum took place on May 19-20, 2016 in Tiraspol.

The first three forums were of a purely investment nature - their main goal was to increase investment activity in Pridnestrovie.

The Forum in 2016 was focused both on investments and economic situation. First of all, it was aimed at studying the economic situation in Pridnestrovie analyzing the causes that triggered the crisis phenomena and searching for proposals to stimulate economic growth. The leitmotif of the Forum was the transition of the Pridnestrovian policy trend from survival to development.

About 800 people participated in the Forum. It was attended by 64 foreign participants from 43 organizations representing 17 countries (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Abkhazia, Italy, France, United Kingdom, USA, Czech Republic, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, and Hungary).

The Forum hosted such events as presentation of Pridnestrovian regional investment potential, meeting of foreign participants with authorities, Round Table on private-public partnership visited by Vitaly Maksimov, Chairman of the Board, ZAO TRANSPROYEKT Group.

An agreement on cooperation and partnership between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Pridnestrovie and the Moldovan-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was signed.

Foreign experts, representatives of authorities and the business community of Pridnestrovie searched for ways out of the crisis situation at the plenary session and five discussion areas. The Forum considered the problems and the opportunities for Pridnestrovian enterprises when entering the European markets and the Eurasian Economic Union; advantages and disadvantages of the current tax system and the objective necessity of switching to the classical taxation system; peculiarities of attracting investments in crisis environment and the first initiatives to create technological clusters and public-private partnership projects; business climate in Pridnestrovie and possible ways of activating the economy through supporting entrepreneurship; the analysis of the national system of technical regulation, and proposals on the strategy of its development basing on harmonization with the best international systems.

Russian experts shared their experience in the activity of business ombudsman institution and the current mechanisms for supporting small and medium-sized businesses in the Russian Federation.

Also, on the first day of the Forum businessmen from different countries participated in an exchange of business contacts and could communicate with representatives of Pridnestrovian enterprises. Perhaps it will be an impetus to the development of external trade and economic ties of Pridnestrovie. Aquatir sturgeon complex (Pridnestrovie) attracted the greatest interest among foreign participants.

V Pridnestrovian International Economic Forum was held on July 6-8, 2017 in Tiraspol. About 550 people participated in the Forum. Foreign participants represented more than 15 countries.

The key discussion was focused on the problems of the present-day Pridnestrovian economy, which solution is now top priority for the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Also, the Government of Pridnestrovie presented the “road maps” in providing export support, improving the business environment, and reducing the shadow economy.

The final event of the Forum was an exhibition fair within the framework of the nationwide campaign arranged by the Pridnestrovian Chamber of Commerce and Industry “Buy Pridnestrovian Goods” (Bendery, the square in front of the Tkachenko Culture Centre).

The main goal of the Forum was achieved: an open discussion of the steps taken by the Government of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic towards business in order to build trust between the authorities and entrepreneurship.
